WHAT IS A POWER OF ATTORNEY?

Arguably more important than a Will as you may need it whilst you are still alive, a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document which allows you to appoint a relative, friend or professional that you trust to manage your property, financial, legal or medical affairs should you be unable or unwilling to do so.

It is a powerful document which is often overlooked – choosing someone to be your attorney is a really important decision that should not be taken lightly. There are two types of LPA – one to take care of your Property & Financial Affairs (things such as paying bills, dealing with your bank) and the other for your Health & Welfare (such as deciding on any medical treatment or care required).
